The days stretch like a cat in the sun. It was getting dark late and I was still on the terrace, not wanting to turn on any artificial light. The body has its own clock, and when the hours of light lengthen, something changes inside.
It is not only that it dawns earlier. It is that energy shifts. There is a lightness that was not there in winter, an impulse that asks for movement, but also a paradox: more light does not always mean more clarity. Sometimes, so much light exposes us to what we would rather not see.
I wonder if summer invites us to that: to inhabit the light without hiding. To let the heat soften what is rigid. To allow the rhythm to change without resisting.
This week I am going to try something: instead of filling the long days with more tasks, I am going to let the body itself set the pace. As trees do, which do not argue with the seasons. They simply open when it is time.
May these days of light find you kind to yourself.
